This is ill… Mophono is  the production alter ego of DJ Centipede, a really dope SF based dj who has been holding it down for at least like 15 years now. He’s an amazing dj and is as well known for his good nature and humility as for his skills in djing and production. Here is some of a live set that he performed with a little cutting by DJ Aspect. …This is an epic scene from the film Wild Style, which is from the early eighties and set in New York. The film itself is kind of cheesy, but it is dope because it features a lot of local (to NY) hiphopsters from the time and showcases a whole lot of amazing talent from all of the “elements”. I imagine this scene was pretty hard to shoot, because it is too fun. Especially the strictly rapping part. Some of these fools are struggling hecka hard not to bust up. Anyways, here is a classic scene from a classic movie…

…I know- it’s a fine line. One minute I’m cracking jokes about wind instruments/tea vessels and the next I’m actually really blown away by another innovation that’s completely unconventional and retro-new-agey even by my standards..Whatevs. This is really, really rad. The hang drum is a new instrument, apparently invented around 2000 A.D. … It seems to be kind of an inverted steel drum with a resonance chamber. The sound is really cool. Anyways… I know it can be hard to tell, but I am really feeling this right now. And the composition he is playing is rad. I want to remix it. You hear me Dante?
